At the 2012 May Reining Horse Association of Northwest, Joleen Smith and Millers Starlight won Beginner Reining with a perfect score of 70 - our first 70! We also won NRHA Rookie Level 1 with 2nd place; AQHA Novice Amatuer with 3rd place. This is our freshman year reining together and we are so happy with our progress -- especially after our great start last year at OQHA in March and then Washington Reining Horse Association in April -- placing in the top 3 in several of the classes we rode in. Unfortunately, a couple weeks later I suffered a traumatic injury from a horse wreck (not Star) and had to ride the bench the entire first show season 2011 -- boo hoo for sure! Our trainer, Mike Stokes, rode Star throughout the 2011 show season, winning NRHA Open and staying in the top three in his classes for two 2011 year end awards. Awesome! So this is our freshman year -- our fourth horse show together EVER... and we are one! Star and I are a great team, I love her sweetness and her awesome stopping power! Thank you to Cowboycreek Quarterhorses, Lori Stancik and Mike Stokes for bringing us together. Hip, hip, HOORAY for all of us! Let it rein!
